Washington, DC February 4, 2010
WTOP Radio 103.5 FM today announced a new multi-year broadcasting partnership with NFL Hall of Famer John Riggins. “Riggo” just completed his first year of providing expert analysis and commentary for WTOP during the Redskins’ season and will continue in that role during the 2010 NFL season.
Riggins will also host one-hour “Ask Riggo” specials throughout the year, giving listeners and fans the chance to interact and discuss the team. In addition The John Riggins Show will return to the air in afternoon drive via WTOP’s HD-3 Channel. The John Riggins Show will air Monday through Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. Riggins will also host a pre-game and post-game show during the NFL season.
Riggins says, “Spot duty was never meant for me. I’m an every down broadcaster. Thanks to the Goliath of D.C. It’s going to be just like old times.”
The broker of the deal, WTOP Sales Manager Ralph Renzi says, “We are thrilled to have Riggo join WTOP 103.5 FM and to bring his talk show to WTOP HD-3. His expertise and candor are always a must-listen. This is an innovative move that showcases radio’s many distribution channels.”

John,
ReplyDeleteWhy did you delete my comment - LOL! You should be ashamed for being part of Struble's HD Radio scam!
I think your show sucks. I enjoyed watching you on the George Micheal Show because it seemed more real. Them two guys you have on there now are dry and it looks like they are staring at porn on their computers. Wake me up when your show is over and the real John Riggins returns.
ReplyDeleteBring back Frank Herzog and get some life back into your show.
ReplyDeletethe anita marks experiment failed.

ReplyDeleteI have loved football since the days of the Redskins, the Hogs, and “Riggo.” There were many great moments and great players. Todays football appears to be more aimed at attacking and injuring the opposing player so you can overcome any advantage he might have on your team as evidenced by the Steelers:. Disgusting and very dangerous.
My point:
You football icons who still will be known and admired for a few more years…should speak up NOW and make a difference while the public still knows and listens to you. Speak and be heard. Call attention to the increasing violence and permanent damage that is often a result of over aggressive football .
This is seen in pro football, but it is copied by young players throughout the country. Our sons are getting football injuries in grade school through college. Many coaches are focused on the win no matter what the individual cost to the players. Kids are being sent out repeatedly after having sign of head injury. Neck protection is not used.
Identify and Fix it:
Identify and call attention to the more severe injuries to head, neck and back. Organize a competition between medical/engineering/manufacturing to come up with products that will protect and prevent many of these injuries. New/better protective equipment could become the rule. The proceeds could help support those who are already permanently injured.
As a group of Football Icons, publicly call upon the NFL to address and enforce more defined rules about what is and is not considered overly aggressive football. Have specific punishments mandated for infractions and restrictions that are not able to be manipulated or minimized. Hopefully these rules will get passed down to the communities.
Riggo, Dexter, Terry, Mike, Joe, John Lynch….make a difference. I think you can do it. Thanks.
WE LOVE RIGGO, BUT HIS SHOW IS SOOOO BORING BECAUSE THE PERSON NAMED TODD THINKS HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING (AND I'M SURE HE HAS A WEALTH OF INFORMATION); HOWEVER, HE DOES NOT PERMIT ANYONE ELSE TO VOICE AN OPINION. HE ANSWERS QUESTIONS NOT DIRECTED TO HIM; HE CONSTANTLY INTERRUPTS THE OTHERS (INCLUDING RIGGO) AND HE CONTINUALLY HAS TO TALK. PLEASE, I HATE TO MISS SEEING AND HEARING RIGGO, BUT I CANNOT CONTINUE FOR REASONS STATED ABOVE. TODD SEEMS LIKE A NICE PERSON BUT IS SO OVER-BEARING.
ReplyDeletePete McElroy was fantastic the past two days! His baseball knowledge is second to none. Keep him on all season…..he definitely understands the Boys of Summer!
ReplyDeleteI Dont understand why dallas finished ahead of the skins in the standings, but pick ahead of us in the draft.
